Ford will be the presenting sponsor of the 72nd League of American Orchestras National Conference, which takes place in Detroit and runs for June 6th-8th.

As part of its role as presenting sponsor, Ford will provide $75,000 to five musicians who have worked to brighten the lives of hospital patients, students, and the elderly, part of its second annual Ford Musician Awards for Excellence in Community Service. Ford Fund President Jim Vella will also deliver opening remarks on the importance of music, the arts, and cultural institutions as part of building up stronger communities.

“Detroit’s rich musical history strikes chords with audiences around the world,” said Vella. “We are proud to help bring together a diverse group of music and arts supporters to learn from each other and experience what our region has to offer.”

Additionally, Ford Chief Diversity Officer Meeta Huggins will speak with delegates about the importance of workplace diversity.

Following the League of American Orchestras National Conference, Ford will also serve in the role of presenting sponsor for Detroit Music Weekend, which takes place from June 9th-11th. Among the performers gracing the inaugural event, being held at Music Hall on Madison Street, are legendary singer Aretha Franklin, Josh Gracin, and Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.

Ford and Ford Fund have contributed over $15 million in support of arts and culture over the last decade. More recently, Ford supported the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for its ground-breaking trip to China and, alongside UAW-Ford, are the lead donors in the expansion of the Motown Museum.
