Ford is sponsoring the 2014 Quick Lane Bowl (due in large part to the fact that it takes place at Ford Field in Michigan, which is not so named for the man who plays Han Solo). This year’s participants in the Quick Lane Bowl are the University of Minnesota and Central Michigan University. The game will take place on Monday, December 28th with kickoff scheduled for 5 pm on ESPN2.

Is either team particularly impressive? Well, no. But hey! It’s football, and it’s on a Monday!

Minnesota finished the season 5-7 under Tracy Claeys, who replaced Jerry Kill in late October. The team is led by junior quarterback Mitch Leidner, senior receiver KJ Maye, and senior corners Eric Murray and Briean Boddy-Calhoun.

CMU finished 2015 with a 7-5 record overall and a 6-2 record in the MAC, earning them a share of the MAC West Division title. This marks the Chippewas’ second straight bowl appearance, third in four years, and seventh in 10 years. Last season, CMU was beaten by Western Kentucky in the 2014 Popeyes Bahamas Bowl by a score of 49-48.

2015 is the second year of a multiyear agreement that has Ford’s Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center as the title sponsor of a college football bowl game at Ford Field.
