It was announced on Monday that Ford and Lincoln dealers across the United States combined to give almost $100 million to community causes and nonprofits in 2015. Ford’s Survey on Dealer Giving found that dealer contributions to important causes neared a nine-figure total for the second straight year, and also revealed that dealership representatives volunteered more than 700,000 hours in 2015.

“I am continually amazed by the selfless efforts of our honorees and nominees, who provide countless hours and resources to improve lives in their communities and beyond,” said Edsel B. Ford II. “Time and time again, they find a way to reach out with their generosity and kindness to support those in need. In the end, the impact on their communities is truly inspiring, and in every case—in every city and every country—these dealers are setting the highest standards for caring.”

According to the survey, contributions for 2015 totaled $96 million across the country, while volunteer time totaled 728,201 hours. The survey found that 91% of all dealers gave money to local causes while 81% volunteered in some form or other. Approximately two-thirds said that supporting local causes is tethered to their dealership’s traditions.

Oddly, only 87% responded that they wanted to make a difference in their communities. Really makes one wonder about that 13% of dealerships, ya know?

Further detail shows that causes benefitting children was the most common among dealerships at 91%, followed by education and scholarships at 71%, faith-based organizations at 58%, supporting veterans at 54%, and hunger relief at 45%.
