Winning a NASCAR race is always a sizeable feather in any automaker’s cap, but it’s even more impressive when you are able to sweep the podium. That’s exactly what Ford did this past weekend at the Food City 400, where Carl Edwards won his 22nd Sprint Cup Series race and Ford’s 620th all-time.

Ford had a very strong finish at the Food City 400

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. took second place, and Aric Almirola came in third in an exciting race that ultimately marked Ford’s 34th win at Bristol and the 134th Sprint Cup win for Roush Fenway Racing. Ford driver Marcos Ambrose finished fifth, and Greg Biffle (12th), Brad Keselowski (14th), Joey Logano (20th), and David Gilliland (22nd) rounded out Ford’s top twenty-five finishes.

“How about Ford? They’ve done so much in this sport,” Edwards said in his victory lane interview. “They make the greatest cars on the road and for them to finish tonight 1-2-3-5, that’s a big turnaround from the other night.”

Second-place finisher Ricky Stenhouse Jr. echoed the chipper sentiment, saying that “[crew chief] Mike Kelley got this Nationwide Insurance Ford Fusion rolling pretty good. We felt good about it all weekend because this was a track we were good in Nationwide, so it’s good to have him back and good to be running back up front.”

For those of you hoping that Carl Edwards’ victory at the Food City 400 would force him to get a Twitter handle much in the same way that Dale Earnhardt, Junior’s Daytona 500 win did, he confirmed in a post-race presser that, despite sponsor pressure, he ain’t doing Twitter any time soon.

Ford also enjoyed a historic weekend two weekend ago after Brad Kesolowski won both the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Nationwide action resumes this Saturday with the TreatMyClot.com 300, and Sprint Series Action gets back under way with the Auto Club 400 on Sunday.
