Ford Girls' Fast Track Races

Ford announced on Tuesday that the Blue Oval will be collaborating with Girl Scouts Councils in Tropical Florida, Southeastern Michigan, Northeast Texas, and Northern New Jersey to formulate a new program that will encourage elementary students to explore interests related to the STEAM fields (A for Art).

The program, Girls’ Fast Track Races, will offer 200 Brownies and 200 Juniors from each council the opportunity to experience automotive engineering and design hands-on by creating their own unique race cars.

“We believe that all young children have an aptitude for technical subjects – what’s often lacking is the encouragement and additional support to succeed,” said Tracy Magee, Ford primary brand experiential manager. “Ford is deeply committed to education and through creative programs such as the Girls’ Fast Track Races, we hope to spark excitement among the youth and inspire them to pursue future careers in high-tech fields.”

Girls’ Fast Track Races will consist of four regional events:

  • 11 am on October 15th at the Athletics Center O’Rena at Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan
  • 11 am on October 29th at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas
  • 12 pm on November 6th at the Fernandez Family Center at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida
  • Details for the Northern New Jersey event, including venue, date, and time, will be announced at a later date

Ford’s involvement is consistent with its aspirations to not only encourage more young people to pursue degrees in the STEAM fields, but also to encourage diversity in those fields. More information on the program can be found at www.FordSTEAMExperience.com.
