Ford to Help Fly 70 Kentucky Vets to National World War II Memorial
Ford Motor Company Fund is sponsoring another Honor Flight, this time to send veterans in and around the Louisville area to the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. this weekend.
Ford has sponsored Honor Flights for veterans in cities including Chicago and Cleveland among others for the past several years. This marks the third year in a row that Ford has provided the service to veterans in the St. Louis area.
The flight will carry 70 veterans to the Nation’s Capital to coincide with the 71st anniversary of D-Day. Ford will cover the cost of the trip, and the automaker’s employees will join members of Congress in meeting the veterans at the memorial on Saturday.

“The service and bravery of these soldiers more than 70 years ago will never be forgotten,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “This will be the first visit for many of them to the national memorial dedicated in their honor. It is a small, but important gesture to recognize their tremendous courage.”
Ford has supported the US Military for more than 90 years, and it has donated more than $8 million to veterans’ organizations around the country since 1974.
