Ford Transit Van Serving D.C. as Part of The Salvation Army’s Grate Patrol
The Salvation Army Grate Patrol’s new Ford Transit van
In order to help The Salvation Army’s Grate Patrol program in its effort to feed the needy in our Nation’s Capital, Ford took one of its versatile Transit vans and added everything but the kitchen sink. Just kidding. They added a kitchen sink, too.
A 2015 Ford Transit 350 HD with a 3.5-liter V6 engine was customized with a sink, refrigerator, food prep space, service window, and cabinets in order to support the needs of SA’s Grate Patrol. The campaign runs nightly in Washington D.C. and delivers an average of 150 meals to the less fortunate at various points throughout the downtown area.
“Ford is proud to support The Salvation Army’s mobile meals program as part of our commitment to help build strong communities everywhere our employees live and work,” said Janet Lawson, director, Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company.
Not only did Ford provide The Salvation Army’s Grate Patrol with its new wheels, but Ford volunteers helped with the task of distributing nutritious meals throughout D.C. during the Transit’s first night of service.
Ford’s dynamic new commercial van replaces the Grate Patrol’s previous ride, which was retired last summer after being in service for a decade.
