Ford UK Achieves Record High Monthly Commercial and Fleet Sales
Ford maintained its position as the UK’s leader in total vehicle, car, and commercial sales, recording record-high CV and fleet sales numbers for the month of June.
Ford’s total vehicle sales reached 41,284 units in June, good for a 13.9% sales share. Ford was 3.1 percentage points ahead of the next closest automaker. Car sales totaled 30,244 units, or 4,666 units better than the closest competitor. Ford’s light and medium commercial vehicle sales totaled 10,868 units, up 3.1% year-over-year.
“Sales remain surprisingly strong, despite the market hiatus around the referendum, which firmly underlines the success of exciting model range,” said Ford of Britain chairman and managing director Andy Barratt. “We continue to consolidate and extend our long-standing UK market leadership through continued investment in exciting products and industry-leading technologies, delivered by the strongest UK dealer network.”
Ford occupied five spots in the UK’s top 20 for sales volume: Fiesta was first, Focus third, Transit Custom ninth, Kuga 14th, and Transit 19th. The Fiesta, Focus, C-MAX, Galaxy, Transit Van, Transit Connect, Transit Custom, Transit, and Ranger were all the best-sellers in their respective segments, and models like the B-MAX, Kuga, and Mustang all placed within the top three.
“It’s a very busy time and, going into the summer, we are looking forward to full availability of the newly announced ST-line model range of Fiesta, Focus, and Mondeo,” said Barratt. “Deliveries have commenced of the new Ford Edge, our flagship SUV, and the new S-MAX Vignale will be arriving in dealerships soon. Our highly successful Ford Transit and Transit Custom commercial vehicles also benefit this summer with the launch of the all-new Ford EcoBlue diesel engine, delivering significant cost of ownership and performance improvements for our customers.”
