Ford’s European April Sales Outpace Industry Growth
Ford continued to outpace the automotive industry for the fifth straight month in Europe, with Ford’s European April sales rising by 6.6 percent.
By comparison, industry growth in Europe was only at 4.2 percent. This boosted Ford’s market share up by 0.2 percent to a total of 7.9 percent, marking the fifth consecutive month of year-over-year market share improvement as well as its 11th consecutive month sales improvement.

Popular both at home and overseas, the European crowd-winner was the Ford Fiesta, which remained the Detroit automaker’s best-selling car in April with 29,000 registrations. The Ford Ranger was also notable for setting a new April sales record since its introduction to the European market in 1999 (and for being named International Pickup of the Year, so there’s that too).

Ford commercial vehicles were especially successful, with the Ford Transit becoming the best-selling vehicle in the combined one- and two-tonne commercial segments in Europe. This helped Ford’s commercial vehicle April sales rise by 7 percent to achieve the highest market share since 1998 in that segment.
