Ford’s March Sales Led by Fusion and F-Series

As always, the Blue Oval seems unstoppable, and Ford’s March sales figures are a testament to that perception. In total, the automaker moved 244,167 vehicles last month, 3 percent more than March of last year. Retail sales specifically accounted for 166,030 vehicles, also up 3 percent, and resulted in the best March for the automaker in eight years.

“March sales turned noticeably higher mid-month and finished strong,” commented John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. marketing, sales, and service. “Fusion set an all-time record in March, as overall retail sales in the West continued to expand at the fastest rate in the nation – including California being up 32 percent. In fact, Ford sold 32,963 examples of the Ford Fusion, an all-time monthly record since it hit the market back in 2005. The F-Series also topped previous sales, hitting 70,940 units moved in March. This marks one of only four occasions in the last seven years that Ford has managed to sell more than 70,000 F-Series pickup trucks.

Ford’s luxury division, Lincoln, also fared well in March, selling 4,052 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. Sales of the MKZ went up a whopping 72 percent and marked an all-time monthly sales record. In total, Lincoln sales jumped 31 percent in March, marking a six-month streak of sales gains.
