Ford kicked off the new year with sales totaling 130,832 vehicles in China, increasing its sales from January 2015 by 36%. Two vehicles in Ford’s lineup—the Ford Escort and Mondeo—and the automaker’s entire SUV lineup guided the way with record-smashing sales.

“We are honored that customers are responding so positively to our vehicles,” said John Lawler, chairman and CEO of Ford Motor China. “The combination of great performance and great value is clearly bringing more people into Ford showrooms.”

Changan Ford Automobile’s vehicle sales totaled 111,856 passenger cars, a 58% sales leap from January 2015. The Escort accounted for 28,980 vehicles, improving upon its January 2015 sales mark by more than six times. Mondeo sales were up 33% at a total of 15,000 vehicles, and the EcoSport, Kuga, Edge, Explorer, and Everest were up a combined 75% at a grand total of 37,411 vehicles sold.

Jiangling Motors Corporation sales were down 24% at a total of 17,255 vehicles delivered, a loss attributed to the lack of demand for commercial vehicles in China.
