Former Goldman Sachs Vice Chair Named to Ford Board of Directors

Ford has announced that John S. Weinberg, the retired vice chairman of Goldman Sachs Group, has been elected to its board of directors. Effective October 1st, Weinberg will serve on the Ford Board of Directors’ Nominating and Governance, Sustainability and Innovation, and Finance Committees.

Weinberg, 59, spent more than 30 years at Goldman Sachs, the global banking firm whose estimated revenue in 2015 was approximately $39.2 billion and whose total assets were valued at $861 billion in 2015. He was made partner in 1992, and more recently served as its vice chairman from June 2006 through October 2015. During his tenure with Goldman Sachs, Weinberg served as a financial advisor to companies including Ford, General Electric, and Boeing, and he was a leader on the IPOs for both Visa and Under Armour.

“Having worked with him for many years, John is a trusted advisor with a deep understanding of Ford, our history and the future needs of our business,” said Executive Chairman Bill Ford. “With his expertise in finance, banking and the capital markets, John is a fantastic addition to our board who will help guide our expanding business model and our company forward.”

Weinberg currently serves on the boards of both the New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Middlebury College, and he is a member of The Steppingstone Foundation’s advisory committee.

Weinberg received his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton in 1979, and he earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1983.
