Clarkson, May, and Hammond have signed on for a new Amazon Video show

We already know that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May—our car show dream team—are reuniting for a new Amazon Video show. But what you might not know the true price Amazon had to pay to get this trio.

According to the Financial Times, the three car experts and enthusiasts aren’t cheap. As you might expect from the popularity of Top Gear, their former show, Amazon had to shell out $250 million to confirm Clarkson, Hammond, and May as the show’s hosts. For this amount of money, the internet-giant has secured a three-season motoring show totaling 36 brand-new episodes.

Now, that’s not the amount of money going toward the presenters. The cool $250 mil’ is only the budget for production. If you take the $250 million and divide it by 36 episodes, that means each episode will have about $6.9 million in its budget. This number includes crew, salary, equipment, transportation, and a variety of other things.

Compared to Top Gear’s budget, it seems this amount of money is quite substantial. Jeremy Clarkson has even gone on record saying, “I feel like I’ve climbed out of a biplane and into a spaceship.”

Hopefully, more money means even more amazing vehicles in the trio’s future. We definitely can’t wait to see what these three will come up with next!
