Man, we need to play more video games.

Mazda recently concluded the Mazda MX-5 Challenge, where competitors raced for victory on Forza Horizon 2 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) with the presentation of a brand-new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata to David Goss of Missouri, who had defeated Colton Miller of Indiana.

Great news for David Goss, but a little sad for Colton Miller.

But only for a second.

Mazda decided, rather than flying Miller all the way out just to leave empty-handed, to surprise him with his own 2016 MX-5.

“They both spent so much time preparing for this event that we didn’t want one of them going home empty-handed,” said Eric Watson, director of marketing, Mazda North American Operations.

The challenge began back in March, when players began downloading the free Mazda MX-5 Car Pack in Forza Horizon 2, and then were required to play the “Rival Mode” event on the Sisteron Perimeter Sprint Track – the two fastest players were flown to Los Angeles to take part in a “winner-take-all” race (although, barring any incredibly evil actions after E3’s conclusion, it was more “winners take all”).
