Four Chevy models ranked first in the 2015 IQS

The bowtie brand has something to crow about, as four Chevrolet models ranked highest in their segments in the 2015 J.D. Power US Initial Quality Study—the Chevy Malibu (top midsize car), Equinox (compact SUV, tied with the Ford Escape), Silverado LD (large light duty pickup), and Spark (city car).

Overall, 10 Chevy nameplates were ranked in the Top 3 of their respective categories, more than any other brand, foreign or domestic. Models include the Chevy Sonic (third highest ranked small car), Traverse (third-ranked midsize SUV), Camaro (second-ranked midsize sporty car), Impala (third-ranked large car), Silverado HD (second-ranked large heavy duty pickup), and Tahoe (third-ranked large SUV).

“We are constantly challenging ourselves to bring to market the highest-quality products for our customers, regardless of the type of vehicle they purchase,” said global Chevrolet president Alan Batey. “Quality studies like this one tell us we are moving in the right direction.”

Many of the Chevy models that performed so well in the IQS are also enjoying impressive sales results, as well—most notably the Chevy Equinox, which had a 30% increase in year-over-year sales last month. The Silverado LD was also up (by 12%), as was the Malibu (11%).

Overall, Chevy’s US sales are up 1.6% over the same period last year.

The 2015 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study is based upon the survey responses of over 86,000 buyers and lessees of new 2015 model year vehicles, who are polled after 90 days of ownership.
