General Motors Canada Sales Decline 17.2% in November
General Motors Canada sold 23,612 vehicles in November, down 17.2% year-over-year. Retail sales totaled 17,664 vehicles, down 21.9% year-over-year, and fleet sales totaled 5,948 vehicles and increased 0.5% year-over-year. All four of GM’s brands saw year-over-year volume decreases both in terms of retail and total sales, but the automaker anticipates a surge in sales—particularly for utility vehicles—heading into the final month of 2017.
“Our fresh new lineup of crossovers from Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac have been very well-received by our customers who are rewarding us with strong and steady sales as we move into the final stretch of 2017,” said John Roth, vice president, Sales, Service, and Marketing. “From our industry-leading electric vehicles to GM’s mid- and full-sized trucks, our dealers are delivering the vehicles customers are looking for.”
Chevrolet’s total sales decreased 13.6% at 13,548 vehicles delivered, and retail sales fell 16.7% to 10,057 vehicles. Chevy’s top performers for November included the Spark, up 35% year-over-year; Volt, up 84% year-over-year; and Camaro, up 21% year-over-year.
GMC sales were down 20.1% in total at 7,591 vehicles, and retail sales fell 26.5% to 5,596 vehicles. Total sales of the GMC Acadia rose 85%, the sole GMC vehicle to see growth during November.
Buick was down 36.5% in November at 1,428 vehicles sold in total, and retail sales decreased 39% to 1,271 vehicles. Both the Encore and LaCrosse posted year-over-year growth, increasing a respective 8.8% and 23.2%.
Cadillac’s total sales dropped 4.7% at 1,045 vehicles, and retail sales declined 10.8% at 740 vehicles. Sales increased for the Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, and CTS.
Through November, GM Canada’s total sales are up 13.6% at 283,025 vehicles delivered. GMC and Cadillac have both posted their best calendar-year-to-date sales, Buick has posted its best calendar year to date since 2003, and Chevy has its best calendar year to date since 2003.
