General Motors Canada Sales Jump 17 Percent in March

General Motors reported total sales of 24,498 vehicles in Canada last month, a year-over-year increase of 17% from the year prior and the highest sales total for the month since 2011.

Buick sales were up 13% year-over-year with a total of 1,449 vehicles delivered, good for the brand’s best sales since 2012. Verano sales were up 61% at 701 units delivered, good for an all-time March record and the model’s best sales figure since September 2015. Enclave sales were down 17% with 189 units delivered, but up 44% from the 131 units sold in February. Encore sales were down 2% at 363 units, but up 85% from the 196 units sold in the prior month.

Chevrolet sales were up 25% at a total of 14,340 units delivered, the best March sales figure for the brand since 2011. Top-sellers included the Trax, up 128% at 1,019 units delivered, setting a new March sales record and marking the vehicle’s best sales since September 2014; Spark, up 213% at 235 units delivered, also setting a March record and notching its highest sales since July 2015; Malibu, up 73% at 1,826 units delivered and scoring its best sales month since August 2011; Volt, up 262% at 246 units delivered and setting an all-time sales record; Colorado, up 10% at 512 units delivered; and Silverado, up 19% at 4,446 units delivered.

GMC sales were up 6% at 7,762 units delivered. Sierra sales were up 11% at 5,047 units. SUV sales were up 12% overall thanks to the Yukon XL (up 81%) and Yukon (up 28%).

Cadillac sales were up 2% with 947 units sold; the brand was led by the SRX, up 9% at units sold, and the Escalade, up 12% at 150 units sold.
