General Motors June Sales Add to Record First Half in China

General Motors and its various joint ventures combined to log sales of 1,719,202 vehicles in China for the first half of 2015. This comes on the heels of GM and its offshoots recording a combined best-ever June with 246,066 units sold throughout the country.
Through June, sales of GM SUVs were up a whopping 82.7% with 148,081 units sold. MPV sales were up 31.4 with 505,519 units, thanks primarily to sales of the Baojun 730.
“An evolving product mix is essential for meeting the diverse demand in China, given its position as the world’s largest vehicle market,” said GM Executive Vice President and GM China President Matt Tsien. “We will continue to add more new and refreshed models in the second half to keep up our growth momentum.”
Brand-wise, Cadillac experienced the biggest gains in China through the first six months with a 14% year-over-year gain at 39,444 units sold. In terms of volume, Buick led the pack for GM with sales of 436,226 units, good for a 4.3% year-over-year sales increase and the brand’s best first half ever.
Chevrolet was up 0.6% with 317,408 units sold, thanks largely to a record first half of 124,898 units from the Cruze.
