General Motors Korea reported total sales of 40,264 vehicles in September. Domestic sales were down 36.1% year-over-year with a total of 8,991 vehicles sold to customers throughout Korea, and export sales were up slightly at 31,273 vehicles delivered.

In contrast, GM Korea’s September sales from 2016 totaled 45,239 vehicles, of which 14,204 units sold domestically and 31,035 were exports.

“GM Korea is offering our biggest promotions this month in collaboration with the Korea Sales Festa,” said Dale Sullivan, GM Korea vice president of Vehicle Sales, Service, and Marketing. “We also continue to enhance our product lineup to boost our sales performance.”

The annual Korea Sale Festa is a month-long shopping holiday during which department stores, online shopping sites, and various other businesses throughout the country offer attractive deals and discounts. The 2017 Korea Sale Festa runs from September 28th through October 31st.

GM Korea offered a sole highlight for September in the form of the Chevrolet Trax, which saw sales totaling 1,213 vehicles and a year-over-year increase of 39.4%. Of the Trax, GM Korea says that “its functionality and true SUV attributes have boosted the small SUV segment in Korea.” Cumulative sales of the Trax surpassed the 1 million-unit threshold in August.

Through September, General Motors Korea’s domestic sales total 102,504 vehicles and export sales total 299,476 vehicles, adding up to 401,980 sales overall. This reflects a 7.5% year-over-year decrease from GM Korea’s total through September 2016, at which point sales totaled 434,573 vehicles.
