Kimberly Brycz is General Motors’ new senior vice president of Global Human Resources

General Motors’ new head of global human resources is a nationally recognized leader in the automotive industry.

Kimberly Brycz was appointed Wednesday as the senior vice president of Global Human Resources. Previously, she was GM’s executive director of Global Product Purchasing, a position she took over in 2013.

In 2010 and 2015, Automotive News honored Brycz as one of the 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry.

“Kim brings to the job a strong set of leadership and organizational skills that will help lead our ongoing efforts to transform the company through our people and culture,” said GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “Kim exemplifies the leadership behaviors that are critical to the collective success of the company.”

Brycz is the second woman named to a General Motors leadership position in recent days. Last week, GM brand Cadillac hired Deborah Wahl to lead its global marketing efforts. And then there’s Barra, who is the first female CEO in the U.S. auto industry.

Brycz holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Michigan State University. She started working for GM in 1983. Over the years, Brycz has filled a variety of positions at GM Global Purchasing. Before her most recent role, she was executive director of Global Purchasing, Indirect Materials, Machinery and Equipment. She also served as the lead for electrical systems, batteries and hybrids, and interiors.

Brycz also serves on the executive boards for two GM employee resource groups: GM Asian Connections and GM Women Group.

Brycz will shift immediately into her new role. She is the successor to Jose Tomas, who recently left GM.
