General Motors Sales Rise 16% in October

General Motors sales in October totaled 262,993 vehicles in October, good for an increase of 15.9% year-over-year. GM was led by Chevrolet, which posted its best sales figure for October since 2004, as well as year-over-year gains from GMC and Cadillac.

GM’s retail sales were also up 16% at 203,166 units sold, and commercial sales were up for the 24th consecutive month with fleet sales rising 16% year-over-year.
“The redesign of our full-size trucks and SUVs, and our move into the small crossover and mid-size pickup segments were smart bets and our timing couldn’t be better with industry sales at record levels,” said Kurt McNeil, GM’s U.S. vice president of Sales Operations. “Customers are also embracing our Shop-Click-Drive online shopping program, where the price you see is the price you pay. We see more growth ahead because it’s simple and transparent.”
Chevrolet had its best October in more than a decade with a 17.6% year-over-year increase. Deliveries of the new 2016 Malibu helped bolster sales, as well as positive momentum from the Silverado, Traverse, Trax, and Equinox.
GMC also had its best October since 2003 with sales totaling 45,478 units and rising 18% year-over-year. Sales of the Sierra carried the lion’s share, and the Canyon, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Acadia all experienced growth.
Cadillac sales were up 13% thanks to significant growth from the SRX and Escalade. Buick sales were flat, but the Encore put up its impressive 22nd consecutive month of year-over-year sales increase.
