General Motors and the joint ventures thereof combined to move 339,781 vehicles in China last month. Shanghai GM accounted for 160,067 sales, SAIC-GM-Muling’s sales totaled 178,903 vehicles, and FAW-GM chipped in 811 vehicles.

“Shanghai GM’s all-time record sales in December resulted in fewer products available for dealers to sell in January,” said GM Executive Vice President and President of GM China Matt Tsien. “Our production facilities have been working overtime to help meet demand for popular models such as the Buick Envision, Regal and LaCrosse, and ramping up production of new models such as the Chevrolet Sail 3.”

After selling 3.5 million cars in China last year, GM crossed two milestones in January—moving its 4 millionth Chevrolet and 6 millionth Buick. Chevrolet sales totaled 64,490 units in January—down 2.3% year-over-year—while Buick dropped 9.6% in posting sales of 90,508 units. The brands’ respective best sellers were the Cruze, Sail and Malibu and Excelle, Excelle XT, and Excelle GT.

Cadillac accounted for 5,069 sales in January, Wuling added 145,687 units, Hong Gugang added 70,580 units, and Baojun added 33,216 units.
