Charging infrastructure—there isn’t enough of it. That particular bit of the electric car landscape has been trod and retrod so many times that it has become like a sharp splinter caught in the arch of your shoe sole—annoying, persistent, and you just can’t seem to get rid of it easily.

Yes, we know, there aren’t enough electric car chargers to make everyone comfortable driving electric cars, especially in the central part of the US.

However, you know what there are a lot of, that are spread all across the US?

Chevy dealerships.

I think you can see where I am going with this.

Apparently, so does General Motors, because the company has released the nice little detail that all dealerships that sell the Chevrolet Bolt will be required to have at least one CCS fast charger.

Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they will all be publicly available, but GM has at least said that some of the dealers will install more than one station, and the additional stations will be open to the public, although whether they will be free, for a small charge, for Chevy owners only, or for anyone with a plug-in car.

In addition to the newly designated national electric charging corridors (which will have electric car chargers at least every 50 miles), and the various pushes to add more electric car charging infrastructure (thanks, VW!), it seems that we are at least beginning to move toward the critical mass of chargers needed to satisfy customer concerns.
