Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis accomplished a solid first year in 2016. After announcing its formation in November 2015, the Genesis brand earned record pre-sales of the G90 flagship sedan, followed by a nomination for North American Car of the Year and a respectable 7,000 sales in 2016 (combined G90 & G80).

Genesis’ successful ride has not slowed in 2017. In fact, the automaker is blowing last year’s sales figures out of the water. With a reported 1,776 units sold in the USA last month (November), Genesis has accrued 18,664 unit sales to date–over triple the total sales at this time last year.

Genesis Sales Look Promising for Future Months

As the little sibling of the G90, the G80 sedan has proven to be a solid seller for its competitive price and plethora of premium perks. Genesis sold over 1,400 of the G80 in November, an increase of 40% over G80 sales in November 2016.

While not as stellar as the G80’s numbers, G90 sales increased year-over-year as well, with a reported 368 units sold last month.

Both models have earned their share of accolades recently, with the G90 earning Women’s Choice Awards’ Best Luxury Car and Strategic Vision’s Most Loved Luxury Car; the G80 earned praise from the ALG for best residual value in the premium full-size segment and Ruedas ESPN as the Best Sports Sedan (for the G80 Sport).

“November sales were characterized by continuing demand for G80 and G90, enabling each model to gain more of a foothold in their respective luxury segments,” stated Erwin Raphael, general manager of Genesis Motor America. “As consumers continue to show appreciation for Genesis vehicles, so too are esteemed third parties like ALG, Women’s Choice Awards, Ruedas ESPN and Strategic Vision.”

Genesis sales are sure to continue their uptick in 2018 with the highly-anticipated release of the third member of the lineup: the G70.
