The 2016 Chicago Auto Show press days kick off tomorrow with some exciting reveals, but the show opens to the public on Saturday, February 13th. Chicagoans and visitors to the Windy City can stop by through the 21st at McCormick Place to check out the industry’s latest vehicles.

Tickets to the 2016 Chicago Auto Show are $12 for adults. Seniors (62 and up) and children (7 – 12) get in for just $7, and children 6 and under get in free. Not a bad price to pay for the nation’s largest auto show, eh?

But if you’re still looking for a way to get discount Chicago Auto Show tickets this year, there is no more fulfilling way than to participate in the Chicago Auto Show Food Drive, benefiting A Safe Haven. A Safe Haven works to develop the homeless of Chicago’s streets into self-sufficient members of society, via “phased housing, healthy lifestyles, and employment.”

From February 17th through the 19th, bring three cans of food to the Chicago Auto Show Food Drive to knock $5 off your adult ticket, making tickets just $7 for everyone 7 and up.

Canned food collected will go to A Safe Haven’s Community Food Pantry, which doles out food to families living in Chicago’s food desert near A Safe Haven’s main campus, just five miles from McCormick Place.

Another cool aspect of A Safe Haven is that all food prepared at the organization are prepared by the population the organization serves, as they train in the food services program. According to A Safe Haven, 80% of its Food Service trainees found employment last year, thanks largely to the work the organization does.

You can also get discount Chicago Auto Show tickets (during weekdays) through CATA Member New-Car Dealers, Shell, State Farm, and Fifth Third, and women can get in for just $7 on Women’s Day (February 16th), but there is probably no more rewarding way to get in on the cheap than by making a difference in the Chicago community via A Safe Haven. Start collecting your cans now!
