Referred to as the “Crossroads of America,” Indianapolis, Indiana is home of the Indianapolis Colts, the Indianapolis 500, and a variety of museums, restaurants, and landmarks. Indianapolis is the largest U.S. city not accessible by water, and is home to growing pharmaceutical, food, paper, and automotive industries.

Recommended Modes of Transportation

Cars are ideal for getting around Indianapolis, a sprawling city. Complex bus routes and a largely un-serviced metro make public transit less than ideal, particularly for visitors.

If your travels don’t take you outside of the immediate downtown area, walking and biking are also great options, particularly when the weather cooperates. Indianapolis boasts impressive bike paths and flat terrain. You may also consider grabbing a cab when a walk proves to be too much, but have a phone number handy, as they are difficult to wave down in the city.
