Recommended Modes of Transportation
Getting around Oklahoma City is easiest by car. If you’re driving in, you’ll have no trouble – and if you’re flying, we recommend grabbing a rental car. The streets downtown are laid out in a grid and are easy to understand. Be aware that when driving the city on the north side, the numbered streets increase from south to north, but on the south side, they increase from north to south.
Public transportation is limited, but there is a decent bus system around downtown if you won’t be leaving the area.

The major highways and thoroughfares include; I-35, I-44, I-40, I-235, I-240, Highway 77 (Broadway Extension), Highway 74 (Lake Hefner Parkway), Highway 3 (Northwest Expressway), and Kilpatrick Turnpike. Find a description of each major roadway here, along with any possible toll information.

Airports and Car Rentals
Will Rogers World Airport serves Oklahoma City and the surrounding area, offering over 180 flights a day including non-stop service to over 30 cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington DC. The airport has completed the first phase of a major expansion and modernization project and as such, is attracting additional non-stop flights to the city.
Will Rodgers World Airport is home to most major rental car agencies, and rentals tend to be quite affordable. We recommend making a reservation in advance to be sure you’ll have a car waiting for you.

Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum – Many people associate Oklahoma City with the horrific 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. While the city is not defined by the tragedy and has come a long way since that devastation, one of the most visited sites in the city is the memorial built in tribute of the victims.
Museum of Osteology – Described as “America’s only skeleton museum”, the museum is incredibly unique. Featuring hundreds of skulls and skeletons from every corner of the world, kids and adults alike will be captivated.
National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum – This massive museum holds the key to the history of the Wild West. Famous for its western art display, you will not be disappointed.
Oklahoma City Zoo – This 110 acre zoo is often referred to as a living museum and offers something for the entire family.
