While it might be common knowledge that General Motors is an auto manufacturer that prioritizes giving back to the local community, some individuals might not be aware of the brand’s latest generous action.

GM Arlington is poised to kick off its Community Grant corporate giving event on October 5th from 11am to 12pm at the Arlington Assembly Plant located on 2525 E Abram St. During the event, GM Arlington will provide $100,000 in grants to seven local organizations that advance STEM education and connect youth with the resources they need to pursue higher education.

To give you an idea of the significance of GM Arlington’s investment in STEM education, here’s a brief glimpse of last year’s STEM Day event at the plant.

This year’s seven grant recipients include the following entities: River Legacy Foundation, Arlington ISD Educational Foundation, Junior Achievement of the Chisholm Trail, International American Education Foundation, Mansfield ISD Foundation, University Crossroads, and United Way of Tarrant County.

These organizations are definitely grateful for the magnanimous gesture of GM Arlington. Debbie Vernon, director of education at River Legacy Living Center, expressed thanks on behalf of her team, “We are delighted with the support we have received from General Motors. These students are at an age where they are starting to develop a social consciousness, so it’s a perfect time to reach them and help them discover how they can be agents of change in their communities.”
