General Motors July 2016 sales

General Motors Canada reported a 6% sales decrease in July, delivering a total of 21,255 vehicles across the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac brands. As is the case with General Motors’ efforts in the United States, GM Canada sees a positive in that it is successfully achieving its goal of emphasizing retail sales and cutting out daily rental sales in favor of boosting up its commercial efforts.

“While July sales slowed slightly after a strong June, we continue to see growing strength in our brands and products,” said John Roth, Vice President, Sales, Service, and Marketing, GM Canada. “Our retail-focused plan is working, with retail sales up 4% for the year.”

In its sales release, GM pointed to the widespread reach of its OnStar 4G LTE technology as another highlight both for July and in general, noting that the technology has reached more than 30 vehicles across its four brands and has done a great deal to raise interest among retail and commercial customers. GM Canada did not provide any supporting figures or statistics.

Cadillac sales were up 1% in July thanks to a 66% year-over-year sales increase for the Escalade. Cadillac sold a total of 118 Escalades in July, a full 30 units better than July 2015’s Escalade sales total of 88. Sales of the Cadillac Escalade ESV totaled 83, up 50 units from last year’s sales of 33. Sales of the XT5 totaled 298 units.

GM reported that, through the first seven months of 2016, Chevrolet sales are up 1%, Buick sales are up 13%, and GMC sales are up 51%.
