General Motors Canada saw its best June sales performance in six years last month as it earned a 4.2% year-over-year increase with sales totaling 27,151 units sold. The strong performance brought a close to GM Canada’s second quarter, wherein the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac brands combined to deliver an 18.4% year-over-year increase at retail and 18.1% year-over-year increase overall.

June also closed out the first half of 2017, in which GMC and Cadillac both saw their best calendar year to date retail sales in brand history, Chevrolet saw its best retail and total first half sales since 2008, and Buick saw its best first half since 2003.

“The first half of the year has been filled with bests, and that momentum continued through June,” said John Roth, vice-president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada. Roth added, “Working with our dealers, customers are responding to our dynamic portfolio of cars, trucks and cross-overs and driving month after month sales growth across our brands.”

Chevrolet’s June sales totaled 14,942 vehicles in June, up 6.2% year-over-year. Through six months, Chevy’s sales totaled 85,764 vehicles, up 16.9% from the first six months of 2016.

GMC sales were up 12.3% in June with 9,531 vehicles delivered. In the first half, brand sales were up 17.45% at 49,152 vehicles delivered.

Buick sales dipped 33.3% in June with 1,576 units delivered, and overall sales are down 3.4% at 9,175 vehicles delivered in the first half.

Cadillac sales were down 2.1% in June at 1,102 vehicles delivered, more than half of which were XT5 crossovers. In the first half, Cadillac sales increased 17.4% at 6,407 vehicles delivered.

All told, GM Canada’s sales total 150,496 vehicles through the first half, up 15.6% from the 130,202 vehicles delivered through the first six months of last year.
