November 2016 GM sales results

General Motors of Canada delivered a total of 28,523 vehicles in November, up 30.8% year-over-year. Retail sales increased 46.8% with 22,603 vehicles sold, while fleet sales fell 7.7% at 5,920 units.

All four GM brands saw sales growth in November: Chevrolet sales rose 24.7% with 15,681 units delivered, GMC sales rose 41.4% with 9,496 units delivered, Buick sales rose 54.3% at 2,249 units delivered, and Cadillac sales increased 3.4% with 1,097 units delivered.

“November was an outstanding month for sales of cars, trucks, crossovers, and electric vehicles to consumers in all regions of Canada,” said John Roth, vice president of sales, service, and marketing for GM Canada. “We want to build on this momentum as we look to launch the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, in early 2017.”

Chevrolet’s sales increase was driven by gains for a number of its heavy hitters, including the Colorado (up 209.4% with 1,154 units), Corvette (up 122.9% with 107 units), Malibu (up 67.6% with 915 units), Silverado (up 14.4% with 4,296 units), Spark (up 257.8% with 254 units), Suburban (up 214.5% with 456 units), Tahoe (up 306.9% with 647 units), Traverse (up 96.7% with 663 units), Trax (up 14.6% with 936 units), and Volt (up 83.7% with 316 units).

Save for the Acadia, GMC’s lineup saw double-digit-or-better sales increases. The brand was led by the Sierra with 4,979 units delivered, Terrain with 1,220 units delivered, and Canyon with 1,191 units delivered.

Buick was led by the Enclave’s 126.6% year-over-year increase, as well as a 24.8% increase from Encore, 11.9% increase from Regal, 3.8% increase from Verano, and sales totaling 237 units for the all-new Envision.

Cadillac’s sales were led by the XT5’s 477 units, a 20.7% increase in sales for the XTS, and a 9.9% increase for the Escalade.
