GM Canada Sales Rise 21.6% in July As All Four Brands See Growth

General Motors of Canada reported sales totaling 25,852 vehicles in July, an increase of 21.6% from its total of 21,255 vehicles delivered in July 2016. All four brands saw double-digit growth for the month: Chevrolet sales were up 16.5%, GMC sales were up 26.3%, Buick sales were up 34.9%, and Cadillac sales were up 40.7%.

“Driven by our enormous success with our crossover portfolio, it is like we have sold an extra months’ worth of retail sales so far this year,” said John Roth, Vice President, Sales, Service, and Marketing, GM Canada. “2017 has been marked by month after month of sales growth across our brands.”

Chevrolet sales totaled 14,519 vehicles in July; volume-wise, the brand was led by sales totaling 5,198 units for the Silverado, which was up 27.7%. Sales of the new Equinox were also strong, rising 34.8% year-over-year at 1,706 deliveries, and sales of the Tahoe more than doubled at 338 units delivered.

GMC sales totaled 8,425 vehicles in July; three vehicles—the Acadia, Yukon, and Yukon XL—more than doubled their sales total from July2016, while sales of the Sierra were up 19.2% with 5,5052 trucks sold.

Buick sales totaled 1,685 vehicles, led volume-wise by the Encore with 739 deliveries. Enclave sales were up 138.3% year-over-year at 386 vehicles delivered, and sales of the Envision and LaCrosse were both up majorly with respective increases of 273.2% and 275%, respectively.

Cadillac sales totaled 1,223 vehicles, more than half of which (624 units) were XT5 crossovers.

After seven months, GM Canada’s sales are up 16.4% at 176,348 vehicles delivered.
