General Motors’ sales in Canada were up 15% in April with 29,127 units moved across the Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac brands. All brands were up significantly, largely on the strength of crossovers and pickups, though several cars also contributed heavily to GM’s sales success.

“Customer demand for our Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac cars and trucks continues to grow in the Canadian marketplace,” said John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada. “Our three truck strategy, offering the full range of pickups, from the mid-size Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon to the full-size and heavy-duty, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, to meet customers’ varied needs, has driven GM Canada to be the pickup sales leader for the month of April.”

Chevrolet was up 7% with 16,837 units sold and was led largely by the Malibu (up 98%), Tahoe (up 92%), and Suburban (up 61%), as well as overall pickup sales (up 22%).

GMC was up 31% with 8,878 units sold and the majority of its lineup selling well. Leading models for GMC include Acadia (up 42%), Sierra (up 20%), Yukon (up 119%), and Yukon XL (up 77%).

Buick was up 9% with 1,916 units sold, but the brand was not led sales growth-wise by a pickup or crossover. The Regal was up 271%, and the Verano led all models with a 21% year-over-year sales increase.

Cadillac was up 35% with 1,496 units, led by the Escalade and SRX.
