General Motors’ sales in Canada were up 4% in May with 27,462 vehicles delivered. As has been the trend for much of 2015, sales of GM’s four pickups—the GMC Canyon and Sierra and Chevrolet Colorado and Silverado—carried a great deal of the load.

In fact, at 10,907 deliveries, the sales of those four models combined accounted for well over one-third of all GM sales for the month and placed the automaker firmly atop the pickup industry in Canada.

Chevrolet soared in particular, up 9% for the month of May with 16,473 deliveries. It wasn’t just the Silverado and Colorado enjoying strong sales, however; sales of the Spark were up 350% (365 units), the Malibu was up 107% (1,357 units), Impala was up 10% (438 units), Camaro was up 9% (596 units), and Corvette was up 208% (450 units).

Can somebody please tie this to Billy Joel somehow?

“Chevrolet had a very strong month of May with car sales up 14% and truck sales up 6% versus the year before,” said John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada. “Chevrolet Corvette sales were up over 200% in May, its best sales month in Canada since 1980 when Billy Joel’s “It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me” was #1 on the Billboard Top 100.”

GMC was up 15% year-over-year, marking its 11th straight month of sales increases. GMC’s pickups were up 26% on the month.

The Buick Enclave and Encore combined to provide the brand its best May sales figure for crossovers in 12 year.

Cadillac sales were flat for the month at 1,207 units. The Escalade (159 units), SRX (524 units), and XTS (85 units) all experienced year-over-year gains.
