The purpose of “Keeping it Green” is to instruct children, ranging from toddlers in pre-K to seniors in high school, in the importance of preserving Central Park. Last year, more than 750 students benefited from the program. The renewed donation will allow “Keeping it Green” to reach out to more students this year, during the school week and on weekends.

“Thanks to the GM Foundation’s ongoing support, the Conservancy will continue to provide environmental stewardship opportunities to families and schools in the City’s greatest outdoor classroom – Central Park,” stated Doug Blonsky, president and CEO of Central Park Conservancy and Central Park Administrator. “Their partnership will help sustain Central Park as a one-of-a-kind, shared backyard to all New Yorkers.”

In honor of teamGM Cares Week this week, 20 GM volunteers from New York City today visited the park to paint benches and remove invasive plant materials.
