GM Files “Hydralogic” Trademark, Indicates Fuel Cell Vehicle
GM Authority is reporting that General Motors filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office last month for the term “Hydralogic.” Officially filed on August 19, 2014, the application carries the serial number 86370531.
And the best part? The “Hydralogic” application is filed under “fuel cells for land vehicles,” which means we may be getting close to seeing a final product out of The General that is powered by hydrogen. GM has been researching the technology for years and has a test fleet of over 100 hydrogen-powered vehicles. Let’s hope that the “Hydralogic” trademark is the next step in the process.
Hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, if done properly, could be an excellent answer to our limited supply of gasoline and our incredibly large carbon footprint. The only byproduct of fuel-cell vehicles is good old H2O, making them incredibly clean—and theoretically cheap, once the infrastructure to support them is built.
Those who live in California who are interested in hydrogen-powered cars can also check out the Hyundai Tuscon Fuel Cell Vehicle, which is currently only available via a lease.
