GM Files Trademark Application for “C/K 10”

Earlier this month, we reported that General Motors had filed a trademark application for “Sierra Elevation” on August 4, 2014. On the same day, the Detroit automaker also filled an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for “C/K 10” with the “Motor land vehicles, namely, trucks” designation under the Goods and Services category.
If C/K 10 looks somewhat familiar, that’s no accident. Long-term truck fans will remember that C/K was used to brand full-size Chevy and GMC pickups for several decades, from the 1960s through the late 1990s, before the Silverado and Sierra names replaced it. The C had been used to indicate two-wheel drive while K signaled four-wheel drive.

Seeing as the C/K 10 application was filed the same day as the Sierra Elevation app, it is safe to assume that the designation will apply to the same treatment for the Silverado that the Sierra gets with Elevation. Just what that treatment is remains to be seen.
