General Motors helped the Karmanos Cancer Institute raise a new record for fundraising at its 33rd Annual Dinner last month. With the help of dinner chairs Debra and Bob Ferguson, senior vice president of Global Public Policy at GM, more than $2.8 million was raised to support the expansion of Karmanos Cancer Institute’s Intensive Care Unit and the creation of a 24-hour acute care clinic.

“Debra and I were honored to serve as chairs of this outstanding event and to continue GM’s longtime support for the Karmanos Cancer Institute,” said Bob Ferguson. “We know how important it is to provide cancer patients with the care and treatment they deserve and are thrilled to be able to support such a vital and important organization in Detroit.”

General Motors has long been a supporter of the Karmanos Cancer Institute and its dinner, with 2015 marking the fifth consecutive year where a member of GM senior leadership has served as the chair of the event. This year’s event was also the first to be held at the GM Design Dome.

Cadillac served as the event’s host sponsor, which tied into the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction earlier in the month. Cadillac offered up the rights to the first retail production CT6, which was purchased by David Flynn for the tidy sum of $200,000. One-hundred percent of the proceeds were donated to KCI.
