General Motors is teaming with Walt Disney Co., USAA, and the Michigan Veteran Affairs Agency (MVAA) to increase the likelihood of veterans getting new jobs by bringing Disney’s Veterans Institute to its Detroit headquarters on June 5th.

Disney’s Veterans Institute is a full-day seminar in which veterans are trained in the skills they need to be hired as civilians. The seminar includes employer and veteran panels, workshops, speeches, and presenations.

Among those in attendance will be emcee Stephen Clark of WXYZ Detroit, ABC News’ Bob Woodruff, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, and General Motors CEO Mary Barra.

“GM has been a strong supporter of the U.S. military for more than 100 years now, and our support continues today through a wide range of philanthropic, education, training and employment initiatives,” Barra said. “GM employs thousands of active and former military and their spouses.

“We are proud to serve those who have served our country, and we welcome this opportunity to partner with Disney to share, learn and encourage best practices in veteran recruitment and hiring with other companies and organizations across Michigan,” she added.

Disney’s Veterans Institute is built on the success of the “Heroes Work Here” initiative, which launched in 2012 and has since helped more than 10,000 former servicemen and women find work at home—including more than 5,000 who have taken jobs with Disney.
