GM Canada announced last Friday that it will be investing C$13 million into its St. Catharines Powertrain facility in Oshawa, Ontario. The investment will help the plant in its charge of producing more variations of the 3.6-liter V6 engine already being built there.

“This new investment in our St. Catharines Powertrain facility will provide us with more options and capability for the future. It’s another example of how GM is living up to its commitments and building solid capability for the future in Canada,” said Stephen Carlisle, president and managing director of GM of Canada.

St. Catharines Powertrain currently produces a number of V6 and V8 engines, as well as transmissions and numerous other products. GM states that future production volumes at the plant will be determined by demand and its negotiations with Unifor.
