General Motors Korea Employee Foundation Making Kimichi with Love

The General Motors Korea Employee Foundation held its annual Making Kimchi with Love event this past weekend at company headquarters in Incheon. More than 300 GM Korea employees were joined by family members and members of ChildFund Korea as they produced 12 tons of delicious kimchi to be delivered to social welfare organizations and the needy.

Among the GM Korea employees on-hand to help make kimchi and pack it into approximately 1,200 different parcels were GM Korea Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy Juho Hahn, Congressman of the Saenuri party YouSub Jung, GM Korea Labor Union Vice-Chairman Seungjong Yoo, GM Korea Vice President of Quality Sherief Eldessouky, and GM Korea Vice President of Legal Paul Cho.

“Making kimchi is one of GM Korea’s most meaningful annual charitable activities. GM Korea will continue to carry out corporate social responsibility activities and support a happy society for all members,” said Hahn.

The kimchi is being delivered to 57 social welfare organizations throughout the country, including Gaemyeongwon, Hanna’s Home, the Local Children’s Center, and facilities for the welfare of the disabled. Since being established in 2005, the GM Korea Employee Foundation has donated an estimated 140 tons of kimchi to individuals and organizations in Korea in addition to numerous other endeavors.

GM Korea will be holding similar events throughout the month at its manufacturing facilities in Gunsan, Changwon, and Boryeong.

Other undertakings from the GM Korea Employee Foundation include initiatives with education and the arts and volunteerism that includes repairing welfare facilities and providing assistance in emergency scenarios.
