General Motors Korea Company reported domestic sales of 14,778 vehicles and export sales of 36,072 vehicles in March, totaling 50,840 units for the month. Domestic sales were down 12.4%, but GM Korea reports that the Chevrolet Cruze, Malibu, and Trax all saw year-over-year sales growth.

“We continue to generate solid results in the domestic market due to the positive response to our Chevrolet products, including the Spark, Malibu, and Trax, and the arrival of the all-new Cruze,” said Dale Sullivan, GM Korea vice president of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “We will further accelerate this momentum through competitive product value, a range of marketing campaigns, and high-quality customer-centered service.”

Sales of the Cruze totaled 2,147 units in March, up 76.4% year-over-year. Sales of the Malibu were up 360.1% at 3,616 units, and sales of the Trax were up 101.8% with 2,022 units delivered.

In other positive news, General Motors Korea reported that the first batch of Chevrolet Bolt EVs available for sale sold out in less than an hour. Automotive News reported that the Bolt sold out in less than two hours, adding that orders exceeded 2,000 units by the conclusion of the first day of sales. Though it is sold out at present, GM Korea promises that it will “provide consumers with more opportunities to experience the Bolt EV through car rental and car-sharing services,” and GM Korea CEO James Kim says that the company will have more Bolts available by 2018.

Through the first quarter of 2017, GM Korea’s sales total 143,058 vehicles—37,648 units of which were sold domestically and 105,410 units of which were sold as exports.
