Chevrolet is bound and determined to make sure that the new Malibu is every bit the big success in Korea as it is at home. Having already put the 2016 Malibu on display at POSCO and COEX, GM Korea held a large promotional event last month at Daejeon Stadium prior to a Hanwha Eagles baseball game.

General Motors Korea President and CEO James Kim was on-hand for the event to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. He was joined by representatives from various local Chevy dealerships.

“Chevrolet has been actively carrying out marketing activities this year in cooperation with a range of partners to support sales and market share growth in Korea,” said Kim. “Chevrolet will continue seeking win-win opportunities to benefit our company, our business partners and our communities.”

In addition to displaying the 2016 Chevy Malibu and holding giveaways for fans, Chevrolet also announced that it was adding Daejeon dealerships to its social welfare dealer match program. Chevrolet had previously pledged that every vehicle sold by its dealers in Incheon would result in a corresponding donation to social welfare programs. The donations created by Daejeon dealerships will go toward local facilities aimed at helping the disabled.

GM Korea says that it wants to achieve sales of 191,000 vehicles and a double-digit market share in 2016. As of May, it has obtained its market share goal, and its year-to-date sales are up from the previous year thanks to a combination of clever marketing and a new product onslaught.
