There was a great deal of significance stowed in a new 2016 Buick Enclave in White Frost Tricoat that came off the line at Lansing Delta Township Assembly Plant on Friday. The Enclave was the 2 millionth vehicle produced at Lansing, coming a little more than nine years after the plant opened on May 24th, 2006.

“This milestone directly reflects the dedication and hard work that our employees put into these crossovers every day,” said Mike Trevorrow, Lansing regional plant manager. “This team has established a strong foundation since opening to enable us to produce our 2 millionth vehicle in nine years, which is quite an accomplishment.”

The first vehicle built on May 24th, 2006 was a white 2007 Saturn Outlook. Since then, Lansing has supported production of the Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia and Acadia Denali, and the Enclave. At present, around 3,200 people are employed at the plant across three shifts.

GM has invested more than $580 million into Lansing over the last two years, including a $63 million investment to cover a 263,000-square-foot expansion and a total $520 million investment for tooling and equipment for new vehicle programs.
