GM off-road SUVS: The Tahoe

GM is currently in the process of redesigning their SUVs, like the Chevrolet Tahoe and the GMC Yukon. The manufacturer hinted that each SUV will come with an off-road model option, an important shift away from only providing off-road packages on previous versions of the vehicles. GM off-road SUVs, designed specifically with off-roading customers in mind, will hopefully be more popular than those package versions.

Josh Luke, executive chief engineer for GM trucks, told Automotive News, “We are looking at, for this generation, a more off-road variant.” Luke believes that drivers will appreciate these more off-road focused models. “They look at this vehicle as more off-road capable than crossovers.”

Luke hinted that these GM off-road SUVs are only one piece of the puzzle for improving GM’s SUVs across the board. “In the life cycle of this product we’re going to continually upgrade and add technologies,” he said. Whether it’s redesigning the exterior and interior for a new generation or creating an off-road edition of the SUV, GM’s work is never done.
