Spoiler Alert: It’s the LTS

General Motors today confirmed that we will be getting an all-new top-end Cadillac, laden with the latest technologies. Though Cadillac calls it “as-yet unnamed,” it is most definitely the LTS we’ve been telling you about for the past few months. (To be clear, however, we recently learned that the LTS might not actually be called the LTS.)

“The objective for this upcoming model is to lift the Cadillac range by entering the elite class of top-level luxury cars,” explained Cadillac President, Johan de Nysschen. “Currently in development, this new rear wheel drive-oriented sedan uses completely new, custom-designed materials on a unique vehicle architecture.

“In addition to new technology in the car itself, we are instituting innovative manufacturing techniques to assemble it with the precision deserving of a luxury make.”

We learned last month that this top-end Cadillac will be debuting in New York next April, but with Cadillac’s official word, we now know even more, like that the LTS (or whatever it’s called, just make up your mind, Caddy) will be built at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant to be launched in the fourth quarter of next year. Cadillac also managed to quell rumors that the XTS will be axed from the lineup by promising that the new top-end Cadillac would be “positioned above today’s CTS and XTS product lines,” stating that the LTS “adds to rather than replaces any model in the portfolio.”

“This is another testament to the power of collective bargaining and what can be achieved when we all work together,” remarked UAW Vice President, Cindy Estrada, who leads the union’s GM Department. “Our members work hard and take great pride in creating quality products that drive the industry forward and make these achievements possible.”
