Because it just wouldn't be another day in March if GM didn't recall a whole bunch of their vehicles.

GM Recalls 1.3 Million Vehicles

The Saturn ION was involved in yet another GM recall on Monday

This afternoon, General Motors announced…yeah, you got it…another recall. This time, they are calling back 1.3 million vehicles due to a potential sudden loss of electric power steering assist.

Per General Motors’ press release, the following vehicles are involved in the company’s latest recall:

  • Chevrolet Malibu: All model year 2004 and 2005, and some model year 2006 and model year 2008 and 2009 vehicles
  • Chevrolet Malibu Maxx: All model year 2004 and 2005, and some 2006 model year
  • Chevrolet HHR (Non-Turbo): Some model year 2009 and 2010 vehicles
  • Chevrolet Cobalt: Some model year 2010 vehicles
  • Saturn Aura: Some model year 2008 and 2009 vehicles
  • Saturn ION: All model year 2004 to 2007 vehicles
  • Pontiac G6: All model year 2005, and some model year 2006 and model year 2008 and 2009 vehicles
  • Service parts installed into certain vehicles before May 31, 2010 under a previous safety recall

According to GM, customers who own these vehicles are eligible for free replacement of either the power steering motor, the steering column, the power steering motor control unit or a combination of the steering column and the power steering motor control unit. If you’ve already paid for repairs similar to these, you are eligible for a reimbursement.

It was also added the 309,160 non-turbocharged Chevy HHRs from the 2006-2008 model years, several hundred 2009 HHRs, and 96,324 2003 Saturn IONs that are not subject to recall will henceforth have a lifetime warranty for replacement of the electronic power steering motors.

Many of the vehicles here, including the HHR, ION, and Cobalt, are involved in the already-massive GM ignition switch recall. With 4.8 million vehicles already recalled in March, and ignoring the fact that many of the vehicles involved in this latest recall were already included among that tally, this makes more than 6 million vehicles recalled by GM in the last 31 days.

Tune in tomorrow for the latest unbelievable recall news and the result of Mary Barra’s date with the House of Representatives!
