GM picked up the award for “Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer” for the 2016 model year

Continuing a yearly tradition, General Motors honored 118 of its best global suppliers on March 31st in Orlando Florida, at the automaker’s 25th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony. GM recognized more suppliers this year than in any year since the first Supplier of the Year event.

Automotive suppliers from 15 different countries were recipients of this year’s Supplier of the Year awards, which GM gives to suppliers that go above and beyond the company’s requirements.

There were lots of repeat winners this year—in fact, more than half of the recipients had won in 2015, as well. Global filter supplier Mann+Hummel was one of the repeats, having received the exclusive Silver Anniversary Award for consistent performance. The emphasis is on the “consistent” part, as Mann+Hummel has been named a Supplier of the Year 22 times in the award show’s 25-year history.

“We have the privilege to work with and recognize the industry’s most capable suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “Through their valued partnership, we will continue to deliver the products, services and experiences our customers deserve.”

In addition to the supplier awards, GM also gave out its coveted Innovation Award to companies including AGM Automotive, LLC; Comau, LLC; LG Chem; LG Electronics, Inc.; Magna Exteriors; Means Industries; Multimatic; and Sam Shin Chemical Co.

GM also honored Aisin AW Co., Ltd.; ConForm; and Kautex with its Overdrive Award, which recognizes supply partners for exceptional leadership in cultural change and commitment initiatives that drive extraordinary business results for GM.
