Yesterday, General Motors announced the official opening of the GM Company Store in the company’s global headquarters at the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit.

The response, from the world, was a collective, “Wait, you guys didn’t already have one of those?”

I mean, it seems awfully odd that the iconic and sprawling GM Renaissance Center doesn’t have already have at least one little room where you can buy branded merchandise. But hey, better late than never.

The new store is just one part of a larger renovation project that will also include significant updates to the public spaces in the Renaissance Center. GM says that the store will be joined by an immersive experience with interactive exhibits that will highlight innovation, technology, and design across the company’s global brands.

“We are excited to be able to bring the stories of our brands and our company to life by elevating the experience in our world headquarters for our employees and the public,” said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer of Global Chevrolet and the leader of GM Global Marketing Operations. “The new GM Company Store allows us to offer merchandise from each of our U.S. brands celebrating our most iconic nameplates.”

The GM Company Store will be located on Level 1 of the GM Wintergarden and open from 9:30 am-5:30 pm throughout the week (and will be open “occasionally” on weekends). The store sells branded Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac merchandise.

And GM employees, you’re in luck—you’ll be eligible for a 10% discount when you show your company ID. So all of that branded GM swag you’ve probably been getting for free all this time? Well, you can now pay slightly less than retail price for it.
