General Motors posted retail sales totaling 200,656 units in April, up 3% year-over-year. The automaker’s retail growth was driven by a 4.6% increase from GMC, 13.3% increase from Buick, and 4.5% increase from Chevrolet.

Overall, GM sales totaled 259,557 vehicles, down 3.5% year-over-year. Given that daily rental sales were down 18,000 vehicles during the month, this decrease is largely a result of strategic emphasis on retail and GM Commercial deliveries. To the point of the latter, GM Commercial saw sale increase for the 30th consecutive month.

GM has seen year-over-year retail growth for the past 12 consecutive months, with the total cumulative growth during that time doubling that of the rest of that automotive industry. Whereas retail growth in the US from April 2015-April 2016 is 4%, GM’s four brands combined for a total of 9% growth.

“GM’s retail growth over the last 12 months has outpaced the industry by a wide margin because our redesigned large pickups and SUVs are hits, we made smart investments in new segments like small crossovers and mid-size pickups, and our momentum in the car business is accelerating with each new model introduction,” said Kurt McNeil, U.S. vice president of Sales Operations. “GM bucked the industry trend with flat year-over incentives, we are managing with lean inventories and our Commercial and Government fleet business is growing.”

Retail-wise, Chevrolet accounted for 183,442 vehicles, followed by GMC at 47,159 vehicles, Buick at 17,720 vehicles, and Cadillac at 11,236 vehicles.

Other markers of interest in April include ATPs of $35,400, approximately $4,200 better than the industry average, with incentive spending at 10.3% and incentives stagnant year-over-year.
